Inputs
Conversion factors follow international definitions (1 inch = 25.4 mm, 1 lbf = 4.448222 N, 1 psi = 6894.757 Pa). hp is mechanical horsepower (745.7 W); PS is metric horsepower (735.5 W).

Each quantity has a base unit (Pa for pressure, L/min for flow, and so on). The input is converted to the base unit and then to the target unit.
Temperature conversion uses an offset, not just a factor: °F = °C × 9/5 + 32 and K = °C + 273.15.
1 bar = 100 kPa = 14.5038 psi = 1.01972 kgf/cm² = 0.986923 atm
1 L/min = 0.264172 US GPM = 0.0353147 cfm = 0.06 m³/h
1 kW = 1.35962 PS = 1.34102 hp = 3412.14 BTU/h = 859.845 kcal/h
1 N·m = 0.737562 lbf·ft = 0.101972 kgf·m | 1 inch = 25.4 mm
Worked example
Example: 160 bar ≈ 2,320.6 psi ≈ 16.0 MPa ≈ 163.2 kgf/cm². 40 L/min ≈ 10.57 US GPM. 15 kW ≈ 20.1 hp.
Practical tips
- Older catalogs and machines often use kgf/cm² and kgf·m; 1 bar ≈ 1.02 kgf/cm², so they are close to 1:1.
- US GPM and imperial GPM differ; the US gallon is 3.785 L and the imperial gallon 4.546 L.
- Hydraulic power: kW = bar × L/min ÷ 600 gives a ready result in these units.
- For hose and fitting sizes check fractional inches (1/4", 3/8", 1/2") together with their mm equivalents.
Frequently asked questions
How many psi is 1 bar?
1 bar is about 14.5038 psi, or 100 kPa.
How do I convert L/min to GPM?
Divide L/min by 3.785411784 for US GPM. For example 40 L/min ≈ 10.57 GPM.
What is the difference between kW and hp?
1 kW ≈ 1.341 mechanical hp ≈ 1.36 metric PS. Check which one a motor plate uses.
How accurate is the converter?
Factors come from standard definitions; results show 6 significant digits.
